House Concert Info
House Concerts!

If you're into or have ever thought about hosting a social get together at your home, have you ever thought about a house concert?  Well let me tell you a bit about how you go about hosting your very own house concert.

If you come to one of my shows and you really dig what you hear and can stand to look at my mug for a bit, perhaps you'd be interested in having me perform at your house for a Karl Withakay house concert.

What makes a house concert different from what I will see at the pub, restaurant, or other venue?

A house concert is much different than a regular show.  At a house concert, there is no conversations, no TVs, no one shooting pool, etc.  The audience is focused on the performer.  The audience will hear every word and everything else that I do.  A house concert is a much more up close and personal performance than you'll ever get at the local cafe or pub.

How do I host a house concert?

You book me.  Then  you promote the event to your co-workers, your neighbors, your friends and family.  You clear some space in your living room or family room and set up chairs and bar stools for an audience.

You will request a $10 to $20 donation from each guest that attends which will go to me as the performer.  The host generally doesn't make any money by hosting a house concert.

What will happen at the house concert?

For a house concert, I'll perform two one hour sets.  Between sets, I'll take a 20 minute break.  During that time, I'll mingle a bit, take requests, and sell some merchandise to those who are interested.  Then it's back to performing for one more hour.

The only thing I ask is that the audience contains at least 20 members.

If you plan on serving food via a pot luck at the house concert, let me know.  I'd be glad to bring something to share.  House concerts are generally a LOT of fun.  You and your guests are sure to have a great time.

So what are you waiting for?  Stop by one of my shows and let's book a Karl Withakay house concert in your home or go to the "Contact Karl" page and call or email me and let's get it scheduled!

Feel free to download this free pdf house concert guide.  It should answer any quesitons you may have about hosting.

I look forward to hearing from you!
